Hi! Just wanted to write a formal update to all the folks who follow me and support my art. Thank you! Thanks for visiting my page, buying my books and art. It means the world to me! This year I've done 8 conventions and they've all been great, it's awesome to get out of my hermit shell and meet the fans all over the U.S., sorry to say I had to cancel my attendance to Portland Oregon's Rose City Comic Con coming up next week. Don't want to get into details here but having some health problems and just can't physically make the convention. Hopefully I'll be rearing to go visit more cities next year.
Invincible- Plugging away on Invincible, issue 114 came out this week, and I'm working on 115 right now. I'm fortunate that this book is still a pleasure to work on after 10 years. This current issue is incredibly fun, Kirkman is a genius at this writing stuff and he knows how to keep the book entertaining to draw and to read.
Other work, I am doing side work here and there. Working slowly on a side project, along with occasional covers for Marvel and Dc. I have a Flash cover coming out for Halloween, an Inhumans cover that came out this week, and a Spiderman cover coming out soon. More soon! Pretty fun playing in someone else's sandbox!
Merch- I finally re-opened my online store, I'll be updating it with new art/sketches and whatever else every once in a while. For now my creature book is finally up for sale, and plenty of prints, and some books. Check it out here> ryanottleystore.bigcartel.com/…
Thanks!
Ryan

Invincible is coming to a close
For those that haven't heard the news. The comic book that I've been doing art duties on for the last 13 years, Invincible, written by Robert Kirkman, is coming to an end. There are many reasons for this, but for me, it started last year when I told Robert I'd like to move on to other projects, I felt it was time to do other things. Robert said he also has been thinking about ending the book, so he asked that I stay on to finish the run. I told him I needed a break and so Cory Walker, the original series artist said he'd step in to help out, he is currently doing a 6 issue run, then I'll be back on for the remaining 12 issues starting in Fe
So I asked Robert Kirkman to interview me...
CBR wanted to talk to me about my new mini-series coming out next month called GRIZZLYSHARK, and I thought to myself "I've been interviewed by many comic news website guys, who are great, but what if I asked my long time co-worker and friend Robert Kirkman to interview me?!" I thought that'd be something new and he's already read everything GRIZZLYSHARK and knows me pretty damn well so it'd make for an interesting read. He's a busy guy so I thought he'd probably say no but also knew it wouldn't hurt at all to ask. So I asked. And it was one of the more fun interviews I've done! Read the full interview here>

COMICS are for KIDS
Question:
peterahernandez asked:
What do you think about the way some people view comics, some people tell me it's childish no matter what I tell them I just wanted your view on this
ANSWER:
I’ve been told comics are for kids countless times my whole life. I assume all comic reading Americans have heard the same. All you can do is blow it off. Can’t convince anyone by telling them “is not, they are for everyone!” They won’t believe you. I gave bloody gore drenched Invincible trade paperbacks to someone because they said they really wanted to see my work. They said “Cool, I’ll give it to my kids!R

Ryan,
You sir, are an inspiration. I've been following your work since you started on Invincible and I've even met and conversed with you a few times within that time frame. Your art is amazing and I just want to thank you for all that you do. You inspired me to do my own comic and to continue to grow as an artist. I hope your health gets better and I can't wait to see all your new work. Take care, cheers!
